Reshaping
Data Utilization
As a data designer, I am passionate about transforming complex data into insightful and user-friendly digital platforms accessible to everyone. One of my most notable achievements is managing the development of the SME Competitiveness Atlas.
The SME Competitiveness Atlas helps business to assess and improve their performance globally
Developed for the UN/WTO International Trade Centre (ITC) with an external technical team, this tool responds to the organization’s strategic goal of digitalization. Available at smecompetitiveness.org, it enhances the visibility and understanding of SMEs’ competitiveness by providing clear assessments of their strengths and weaknesses. This platform not only highlights opportunities for growth both domestically and internationally but also serves as a vital resource for stakeholders looking to make informed decisions to improve SME performance.
How Does
Atlas Help
The Atlas was developed to address key limitations in the ITC’s SME Competitiveness Survey (SMECS) system. It relied on face-to-face interviews, lacked online survey and data visualization capabilities, and struggled with managing datasets and questionnaires. The lack of personalized feedback demotivated firms, while resource-intensive offline surveys limited its scalability.

To address these challenges, the Atlas was designed to:

  • Increase the online presence of the project and promote it among stakeholders
  • Offer online access to country competitiveness assessments
  • Allow firms to assess their performance online, compare to competitors, and receive feedback on improving their competitiveness
  • Provide a coordinated approach to data management
What Are
Design Details
Developed for the International Trade Centre (ITC), the tool had to comply with strict United Nations (UN) and ITC technical specifications and security protocols, as well as adhere to other information system requirements.

Atlas Offer

The development of the SME Competitiveness Atlas has equipped the ITC with a cutting-edge tool that enhances the visibility of the SME Competitiveness Survey project. This platform showcases the richness of data collected over the years and serves the primary stakeholders of the organization by providing actionable insights for businesses globally.
